I will always remember flying over Alberta and seeing yellow grass for miles and miles.
I was thinking, “Where the heck am I? And where are all the trees?” Well since then, this East Coast gal has absolutely fallen in love with this vast and stellar province! From the small town charm of Leduc and Leduc County to the shopping experiences at West Ed, and the MOUNTAINS.
Coming from New Brunswick and this being my first trip this far west, I had never seen mountains, or wilderness like I’ve seen here. A friend and I went on a road trip to Jasper last year and the moment when the Rockies came into view is a moment I will never forget. Absolutely spectacular. And the elk and big horn sheep were just an added bonus.
Speaking of the Bruns, I am from a small town on the border of Calais Maine, called St. Stephen. It is a quiet little town but in the summer it comes alive with The International Festival. This festival is a collaboration between the two towns on the border and hosts many different events. And at the same time there is also Chocolate Fest. Yep. CHOCOLATE! St. Stephen is home to Ganongs, the home of the first wrapped chocolate bar. I try to make it home every summer to stuff my face full of chocolate. It’s the little things, right?
I was also fortunate enough to land my first radio job in my hometown, where I stayed for 4 years. I then moved on to Fredericton N.B., where I worked for 8 years. And in 2013 I decided I wanted a change and decided to venture to Alberta where I landed a gig in Lloydminster. I stayed in that border city for a year until my travels took me to this wonderful city and a great family here at 93.1 The One.
Well, now I am an Alberta girl and am very happy to say I am in love with our community of Leduc. This place is now home. I have my cowboy hat and kick ass cowboy boots to prove it!
I look forward to meeting all y’all, so stop into the One, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or if ya see me come on ova! We’re all friends here!
