Riggers riding high heading into their quarterfinal series with Wetaskiwin

Riggers look to pull off another upset in round 2

The Leduc Riggers hope to keep their magical playoff run going as they open their best-of-five quarterfinal series tonight against the Wetaskiwin Icemen.

The Riggers are riding high after upsetting the Sherwood Park Knights in a dramatic 3-game series last round and will likely be even bigger underdogs going up against the 2-time defending league champions.

Head Coach Carter Huebner tells The One News they're going in with the mentality they've got nothing to lose.

"They had a week off, which gives them time to recover physically but as we've seen in the past that's not always the best thing so we're coming in after a big series win where we were the underdogs, we're coming into another series where I believe we're the underdogs, I think there's a lot more weight and stress on their plate compared to us" says Huebner.

The teams met four times in the regular season with each team winning twice on home ice.

Huebner says they will need to be extremely physical if they want to upset Wetaskiwin.

Game 1 is tonight at 7:30 from Wetaskiwin.  Game 2 will be Sunday at 4:15 from Sobeys Arena.

There is free entry to any Leduc Minor Hockey players with jerseys for Sunday's game and any more home games the Riggers might have.
