Female Midget Elite Showcase takes place this weekend

Female hockey will be front and centre this weekend for the inaugural Alberta Female Hockey League's Midget Elite Showcase.

12 Midget Elite teams will take part across Alberta including the North Central Impact who are a part of the Leduc Minor Hockey Association but recruit from 22 minor hockey associations from Jasper to New Sarepta. Beaumont to Rosalind.

That's just one of the many events people can see this weekend as part of Hometown Hockey.

Adam Tressor is the Impact Head Coach and he tells The One News how they'll approach this weekend's games with so much exposure.

"When the puck drop we can still only control what we can control, the game itself doesn't change, all we need to worry about is our next shift, that's been our mentality from the beginning of the year is that it's one shift at a time and one game at a time" says Tressor.

Each team at the tournament has three games and admission for fans is free.

The Impact plays their first game Saturday at 1:30 against Calgary Fire White.
