ALERT makes million dollar drug bust, two men from Leduc in custody

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team(ALERT) have seized over a million dollars worth of drugs and arrested 3 men in the process.

Three homes in the Edmonton area were searched back on November 27th and investigators uncovered nearly 9 kilograms of cocaine along with methamphetamine and cannabis resin, plus a pair of handguns.

37-year-old Richard Comley and 38-year-old Scott Doberstein both from Leduc have been charged with conspiracy to traffic cocaine, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking plus production of a controlled substance.

ALERT's investigation began in October with the help of Alberta Sheriffs, Edmonton Police, and RCMP.

In total the following items were seized, 8.7 kilograms of cocaine, 216 grams of methamphetamine, 8.6 kilograms of cocaine buffing agent, 1,000 packages of cannabis resin, two handguns, ammunition, and $44,800 cash proceeds of crime.

44-year-old James Jackson from Edmonton was also arrested and charged with a number of offenses including conspiracy to traffic cocaine, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking(X4); production of a controlled substance; possession of a controlled substance; possession of proceeds of crime; and eight firearms-related charges.  (JSL/THE ONE NEWS)
