Beaumont Family holding out for some hope that missing son will turn up

It's been nearly a year since a 21-year-old from Beaumont mysteriously vanished from a Ski resort in BC.

Ryan Shtuka went missing from Sun Peaks Resort February 17 of last year and the family hopes a special walk and candlelight vigil this weekend might help ramp up the search.

Ryan's mother Heather tells The One News what it's been like being in limbo not knowing where her son is.

"I think it's surreal, it's hard to believe that a year has gone by, it's gone by so fast and yet at the same time it just seems to be never-ending, so obviously there's so much tragedy in the fact that Ryan's been missing for almost a year and we still haven't progressed further the day we received a text telling us he'd gone missing" says Shtuka.

Shtuka left a house party at about 2 am on February 17 but has not been heard from since.

On Saturday there's a special run for Ryan event taking place at Sun Peaks at 3 pm and a vigil happens Sunday.
