Leduc gearing up for Coldest Night of the Year
The Leduc and District Food Bank is looking to the generosity of others to provide warmth for what could be a chilly night.
This is the second year of the Coldest Night of the year event which takes place Saturday at 5 pm at the Leduc Fellowship Church.
Anyone taking part can choose 2,5, or 10km walks along the multiway paths in Leduc to benefit the food bank.
Shelley Hamilton the Event Director tells The One News where the money raised will go.
"The money that's raised goes to buy perishable items like fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat that go into the hampers and that go to families that need a food source for the month," says Hamilton.
Last year there were 100 people who took part in raising close to $17,000.
