Nearly three dozen children were aboard the bus, which tipped this morning in a rural subdivision.
A school bus carrying about 35 students rolled this morning west of Edmonton.
RCMP say neither the driver nor any students reported serious injuries following the accident this morning north of Stony Plain.
At approximately 8:00 am this morning, the bus, carrying students from Evergreen Catholic Separate School and Parkland County School divisions rolled on its side. The accident was caused by icy road conditions on Forest Drive near Highway 779, in a rural subdivision near Muir Lake School. The bus was on its way to Muir Lake School at the time of the accident.
Paramedics responded quickly and were on the scene moments after it happened. All students and the driver were safe, and RCMP officers ensured the students’ parents were contacted. Members of Parkland School Division’s central office staff were on scene and were also present at Muir Lake School to provide any necessary supports the children may need.
Parkland School Division quickly released a statement regarding the incident, to help keep parents up-to-date, as well as to provide some peace of mind.
No serious injuries were sustained by the driver or the students in the crash and after proper medical assessments, kids were shuttled to Muir Lake School on another bus that was dispatched to the scene.
