Leduc Transit see's major increases in its bus trips in 2018
The city saw significant growth in it's public transit last year.
A total of 94,956 trips were done in 2018 on local and commuter routes in Leduc, an increase of 16.3% from 2017.
A major reason is some big changes to its service levels including adding route 10 which makes stops at the Costco in Nisku and the Premium Outlet Mall seven days a week.
Route 10 was launched as part of the City of Leduc along with Leduc County, the city of Edmonton and the International Airport's announcement last year to enhance service to airport lands.
Leduc Transit along with Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) implemented a program for riders to connect from Route 10 to ETS Route 747 with a valid Commuter-plus monthly pass, U-Pass or with the purchase of a special transfer.
Thanks to programs like this there have been more options for travel between Century Park in South Edmonton and Leduc.
Leduc's Assisted Transportation Service(LATS) also saw an increase of 9.1% in trips last year with 31,285 in total.
They also made significant improvements to riders safety by adding 14 dark-sky friendly solar lights along with eight new bus stops 6 of which were in Nisku. (JSL/THE ONE NEWS)
