An alleged Snapchat threat made at Father Leduc Elementary School
1 person is in custody following an incident at an elementary school here in Leduc.
It started when a student told a staff member at Father Leduc a K-8 school here in the city about a threatening Snapchat message they'd gotten about the safety of the school.
As a result, the school was put on a "hold and secure" while police were contacted at around 2 pm yesterday.
Tara Malloy is the Principal at Father Leduc and Tells The One News they have solid procedures in the event something like this transpires.
"We contact our central office and our RCMP, so we worked very closely with central office staff and the RCMP yesterday to make sure all our students and staff remained safe while investigations took place from the RCMP," says Malloy.
Leduc RCMP went to the school and the person who allegedly sent the threat was arrested and the hold and secure was lifted later in the afternoon.
This was not the only school that has experienced threats of late as the High School in Camrose experienced similar threats yesterday, and five schools in Calgary went through a lockdown.
Police continue to investigate. (JSL/THE ONE NEWS)
