New Sarepta fixing deteriorated stretch of road

Pavement failing near CN Rail crossing

Leduc County council has voted to pave a CN Rail crossing in New Sarepta.

The project will cost the county $45,000 dollars.

Adjacent sections on Centre Street were paved a couple of years ago, but staff say CN Rail initially blocked them from upgrading a 30 metre section beside the tracks.

Administration says it met with CN, at which time the railway offered to provide workers to help with the project, but wouldn't pay for the repaving itself.

County staff say the section has quickly deteriorated over the past couple years.

Six of seven councillors voted in favour of the work.
