Nisku Business Park making room for an Amazon Warehouse in 2020
One of the most well-known worldwide packaging sites will be opening a new facility in Leduc County.
The one-million-square-foot warehouse will be built in Nisku's Business Park on 58 acres of land and will also become just the second centre in the province.
Tanni Doblanko, the Mayor of Leduc County tells The One News it's a major win for the community.
"It shows a great deal of confidence in a smaller County to be able to manage one of these and move forward with it, it will be successful and it will be an anchor for those types of distributions and companies to come in when they see how successful we are with Amazon so we are thrilled" says Doblanko.
The facility which is being developed by ONE Properties and TD Greystone Asset Management is expected to create jobs for at least 700 construction workers and 600 new jobs when the project is completed.
Those employed at the warehouse will pick, pack and ship larger customer items including outdoor equipment, patio furniture, and bicycles.
The facility is expected to be finished in 2020. (JSL/THE ONE NEWS)
