The themes for this year's Fire Prevention Week is Look, Listen and Learn
Look for places a fire could start, listen for the sound of the smoke alarm and learn two ways out of every room. Make sure all doors and windows leading outside open easily and are free of clutter.
Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Leduc, Gerry Kelly says "The biggest concern we have is a loss of life. We can easily replace belongings, but replacing a loved one is unimaginable. Anything we can do to reduce the loss of life for us is the end goal."
"Most of the calls we deal with are human interactions that cause that fire. That can be anything from not disposing of cigarettes and matches, to cooking incidents, leaving pots on the stove, and letting the food ignite. It creates a kitchen fire." says Kelly.
The Leduc Fire Services is offering booklets to citizens with information on Fire prevention and much more.
