Children's Entertainer Fred Penner performing a free concert in Wetaskiwin
One of our countries most beloved children's entertainer is in the area this weekend.
For decades Fred Penner has been performing for kids across Canada and will be doing a free show Saturday at the Drill Hall in Wetaskiwin.
The two-time Juno Award winner tells The One News what keeps him motivated to keep writing music at the age of 72.
"It's my life, I love making music, I love sharing music with an audience, the audience still seems to be there, I think it's very much a generational thing at this point where those Fred Heads that started out with me in the '80s are now the young adults having their own children" says Penner.
His TV show Fred Penner's Place ran for 12 seasons and aired more than 900 episodes from 1985-1997.
He's also had songs like "Sandwiches" and "The Cat Came Back".
In 1991 Penner was given the Order of Canada for using music and song to entertain and educate young audiences.
