City aiming to end stigma on substance abuse
The city is hoping to raise awareness this week on the stigma associated with substance abuse and addiction.
They're recognizing National Addictions Awareness Week until December 2 as a reminder that addiction does not discriminate but affects all walks of life.
The Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction says that substance use disorder is a health condition affecting one in ten Canadians of all ages.
Earlier this year Leduc got a provincial grant to start its Opioid Response Framework to help tackle this epidemic and they've put in a Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator to help educate people about the seriousness of substance abuse. (JSL/THE ONE NEWS)
