Mother of 3 from Leduc makes it to finale on Baking show
One of our cities very own got the chance of a lifetime to show off her talents in the kitchen and did not disappoint.
The Great Canadian Baking show concluded last night with Leduc's Megan Stasiewich being a runner-up and one of the final 3 bakers who made it to the finale.
The local hairstylist and mother of 3 tells The One News, the further she made it into the competition the more motivated she was to show Canada her talent.
"The further I got into it the more I wanted to showcase what I could do, and try and set myself aside because some of the challenges were hard to throw yourself into it to show a different angle but when I got the chance I really wanted to stand out as much as I could" says Stasiewich.
Stasiewich also had some advice to anyone aspiring to try out for the show or be baker, she said "I doubted myself so hard, so if you're in those same shoes and you're doubting yourself, stop, take a breath, try anyway and give it your all and if something doesn't work out and you wanna quit baking don't just keep going, keep trying, every day you learn more and you'll continue to better yourself, it doesn't happen overnight".
Despite being a runner-up Stasiewich says she was overwhelmed by the amount of support particularly from her husband and kids who were in attendance for the finale.
Stasiewich was named star Baker twice in her 8-week run on the show which brought together 10 amateur bakers from across Canada to take part in a series of cooking challenges.
The finale saw the final 3 bakers whip up two dozen swiss rolls, a princess cake and build a choux pastry. (JSL/THE ONE NEWS)
