Leduc saddened and disappointed by hate letter written to indigenous family
An anonymous letter to an indigenous family in Leduc has sent shockwaves through the community.
Mishel Assiniboine has lived in Corinthia Park for nearly 20 years and the mother of three discovered the letter in the railing outside the door of her house on Tuesday night demanding the family move out and adding among other things "We do not want your kind around here".
Leduc Deputy Mayor Bill Hamilton tells The One News this kind of letter does not represent the spirit of the community.
"We were shocked and saddened by this, this is an unacceptable situation, it shouldn't have happened to any family in Leduc, and certainly we're just very disappointed by it and we hope that it gets resolved quickly," says Hamilton.
Hamilton says police are currently investigating the situation and that they've also reached out to Family and Community Support Services to provide any help to the Assiniboine family.
