Leduc Extends its property assessment complaint deadline

Formal property assessments complaints are due on May 31.

At the start of the year, the City of Leduc issued property assessment notices to all residential and non-residential property owners.

The January assessments outlined that property owners had until March 30 of this year to submit any formal complaints regarding their property assessment.

In March, Ministerial Order 022/20 was issued by the city, which extended the standard 60-day formal complaint deadline to October 1, 2020.  More recently, Ministerial Order 014/20 was similarily issued, indicating that the extension was inadvertent and that the 60-day complaint deadline continued to apply.

As per that Order, if you believed the complaint deadline was October 1, and on that basis have not yet filed a formal assessment complaint, you now have until May 31, 2020, to file a complaint.

Property owners submitting a formal assessment complaint should do so if they feel that the current property assessment does not reflect the property assessment as of June 30, 2019.

To learn more about the assessment complaint process, and to learn how to submit a complaint before the May 31 deadline, visit the Filing Property Assessment Complaint page on the City of Leduc's website. If you have any questions you'd like addressed, or for more information, you can email propertytaxes@leduc.ca.
