Leduc County interim budget means a temporary tax increase of 1.5% percent next year

Council approves 2019 interim budget for Leduc County

Council in Leduc County made some tough decisions about next year's budget related to the economic climate in Alberta.

The interim operating and capital budgets for 2019 are set at $85 million and $13 million respectively and will include a 1.5% tax increase.

Leduc County Mayor Tanni Doblanko tells The One News they wanted to minimize the impact many have felt with the oil price differential.

"They were hard decisions to make and we had to make a lot of compromises but we're pleased that the right things are going to be moving forward in our budget and that again we are mindful of what our residents and businesses can manage," says Doblanko"

Among the projects moving forward next year are the design of Nisku's Spine Road on the town's east side and a gravel road pilot project.

The interim budget will be discussed again in May of next year.  (JSL/THE ONE NEWS)
