A semi hauling a tanker collided with a small vehicle yesterday afternoon, forcing authorities to close Highway 60 until almost sunrise this morning.
The Leduc RCMP was investigating a fatal collision west of the city this morning.
The crash, involving a semi-truck hauling a tanker trailer and a smaller vehicle, occurred in the late afternoon yesterday near the Town of Devon, approximately 5 kilometres south of the intersection of Highway 60 and Highway 19, and in the area of Township Road 502.
Early this morning, traffic control was still on scene with both lanes closed and a detour in effect. Crews were working to pump out the tanker truck in order to ease efforts to pull the rig from the ditch. The detour was in place until approximately 7 this morning.
Another collision also occurred on Highway 19 between Devon and Nisku yesterday, but authorities have not yet provided any details on that accident.
