Devon seeking volunteers to help clear snow for the less fortunate

Devon's Family and Community Support Services is looking for volunteers to help those in need during the cold winter months.

They're introducing the Snow Buster Program with the goal of providing snow removal assistance to seniors, as well as those who may be disabled or people who might just need a little extra help.

Anne Marie Brattland is the Community Outreach Service Coordinator for Devon and she tells The One News why a program like this is so important in a small community.

"We don't have some of the businesses that would come in to do those types of things and the ones that are, there's always costs involved so the real importance for this, in particular, is that there's an option for people who maybe can't afford to have that service," says Brattand.

In order to become a volunteer, you need to have a valid criminal and vulnerable persons record check.

You can sign up by e-mailing CSOC@devon.ca or by calling 780-987-8308.  (JSL/THE ONE NEWS)
