Former UCP member named the leader of Freedom Conservative Party
A former member with Alberta's Opposition party has been named the head honcho for the province's newest party.
Last election Derek Fildebrandt won a seat for the Wildrose Party but in next year's election, he'll be running as leader of the Freedom Conservative Party.
Fildebrant was dismissed from the United Conservative Party(UCP) after it was revealed he was renting a taxpayer-subsidized apartment on air bnb.
The former Alberta Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation(CTF) was fined $400 last December for a hit and run incident and this February pled guilty to a charge of illegally shooting a deer on private land.
Fildebrant has vowed that his party will do things differently than the UCP who he said had a similar position to the Liberals 5 years ago. (JSL/THE ONE NEWS)
