Raising awareness on family violence is the goal of this year's Breakfast with the Mayor event
A special breakfast will be held this morning to educate the community on the effects of family violence.
"Breakfast with the Mayor" takes place at the Executive Royal Inn from 7:30-9 this morning with the theme about understanding the complexities of family violence.
The Executive Director of Victims Services for Leduc and area is Marsha Guthrie who tells The One News how important it is to have this kind of support from the community for events like this.
"The support is invaluable because we're both non-profit organizations, RiseUp Society provides their counseling services free of cost to victims who are fleeing family violence situations, same for Victims Services," says Guthrie.
This mornings guest speaker will be Namrata Gill from Edmonton Police Services.
Proceeds for the event will go to supporting Victims services in Leduc and area along with Riseup Society Alberta. (JSL/THE ONE NEWS)
