Black Gold School Division hosts Welcome Back awards

Teachers, support staff recognized

Nearly 700 teachers and support staff were on hand last week for the the Black Gold School Divison's Welcome Back award ceremony.

Kathy Timmons is a first grade teacher from Calmar Elementary School, and was awarded the Inspiring Success Award of Distinction.

Warburg School's Library Information Specialist Janet Sarvas was also honoured with the Superintendent's Service Award of Excellence.

Linsford Park third grade teacher Norma Messner has been teaching 40 years, while nine others are reaching 30 years.

Those nine are the retiring Tim Hamblin, Clarence Samuelson, and Ron Zukowski, along with Education Assistant Julia Carter (Leduc Composite High School), French teacher Denis Lacroix (Beaumont Composite High School), Secretary Melody Olsen (Willow Park), Counsellor SherryLynn Gudmundson (Ecole Coloniale Estates), Associate Superintendent Calvin Monty, and Grade Three teacher Carmelle Workun (Ecole Dansereau Meadows).

27 retiring teachers and staff members were also recognized, along with those reaching 25 years of service.
