Beaumont RCMP investigate drive-by shooting

An investigation into an incident that occurred on Wednesday night is currently under investigation by Beaumont RCMP, the RCMP Serious Crimes Unit and RCMP Forensic Identification Section

On May 27, 2020 at approximately 7:45 p.m., Beaumont RCMP responded to a report of a drive-by shooting outside a residence in the Montrose Estates area.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that a vehicle from Edmonton with several occupants was travelling to Beaumont. The driver noticed a suspicious grey vehicle following theirs as they entered the city limits of Beaumont. Upon arrival near a residence the suspicious vehicle pulled up next to the victim’s vehicle and shots were fired. The suspect vehicle then fled the area. No one was injured.

Beaumont RCMP with assistance from Leduc RCMP and Edmonton Police Air One searched for the vehicle in the area but it was not immediately located.

A suspect vehicle believed to be involved in this incident was later located abandoned in the Leduc County area.

Beaumont RCMP along with the RCMP Serious Crimes Unit and RCMP Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate. Police do not believe this was a random incident.

Beaumont RCMP would like to advise this incident is not linked to a separate incident reported on May 13, 2020 in the Forest Heights area which remains under investigation.

Police are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact Beaumont RCMP at 780-929-7410.
