RCMP charged a male after attempting to take guns through Edmonton International Airport

The incident dates back to Monday when RCMP seized a Norinco Model 54 9 mm semi-automatic and a Chiappa Model 191122 22- calibre handgun that was in a checked bag destined for Beruit Lebanon.

60-year-old Mohamad Elkadri of Edmonton was identified as the owner of the guns.

He has been charged with 6 weapon-related offenses.

2 counts under section 86 (1) CC - unsafe transport of a restricted weapon 

2 counts under section 92 (2) CC- possession of a restricted firearm without a licence

2 counts under section 103 (1) (a) CC - exporting a firearm without authorization

Elkadri has been released by Justice of the Peace and will appear in Leduc Provincial Court on November 1st at 9:30 am. (AJS/THEONE)
