Leduc Enforcement Services educating public about driving dangers around the holidays

The Candy Cane Checkstop is back for another year in Leduc.

Drivers will notice an increased police presence from 7-9pm tonight on 50th Ave and Highway 39 in the centre lane between Alton Drive and Grant MacEwan Boulevard.

Community Peace Officer James Russell has some advice for drivers around the holidays.

"Plan ahead for these events, you don't wanna get stuck somewhere where you feel that you don't have an option but to drive, there's always an option, make sure you have a designated driver, make sure you plan ahead, get cab company phone number and always have a ride before you go out" says Russell.

Officers and volunteers will offer people educational material when it comes to impaired and distracted driving, plus driving for road conditions or with reduced visibility.

For more information, you can call Leduc Enforcement Services at 780-980-7200 option 5.  (JSL/THE ONE NEWS)
